All parents, guardians, staff and students are members of our AMS PTO. We do not charge a membership fee and by attending this school you are a valued member of the AMS PTO!
Are you willing to serve on our PTO Board in a LEADERSHIP position that requires organizing, leading and promoting our school community?
We also have many volunteer opportunities to fit any schedule that do not require you to be in a leadership position.
Here are some of the volunteer opportunities:
6th, 7th 8th Grade Parent Teams
Serve with group of grade level parents to
- provide hospitality items for teachers under leadership of Hospitality Chairperson
- works hand in hand with Hospitality committee
- assist grade level teachers as needed for special Paideia projects
(6th – Rainforest Night, 7th – Hungry Planet, 8th - FLOW)
Hospitality Committee
A committee of parents who contribute items for refreshments throughout the year. Committee members will contact other grade level parents to help with events such as Teacher Appreciation Week and other school activities. Plan, promote and coordinate such events. Led by a chairperson.
Cougar Wear
Coordinate sale of Cougar Wear (t-shirts, sweatshirts) for AMS students and staff. Pre-orders are made via homeroom teachers and front office. Once a week, Cougar Wear chairman fills orders. Sales are also made at selected events throughout school year…Open House, 6th grade Paideia night, etc.
Stay-At-Home Fundraiser
Mail out fundraiser cards to all AMS parents once in fall and once in spring. Mail thank you notes to contributors. A great way to volunteer on a tight schedule…can be done at home at your convenience.
PTO Website
Work with our school staff web director to keep our PTO website up to date with current information about PTO and school events.
PTO Bulletin Board
Decorate and update PTO Bulletin Board (in lobby to left of office) throughout year to advertise upcoming PTO sponsored events and provide helpful information to parents and students.
Marquee
Update our marquee in the front of the school once a week. This sign advertises school events to our students, parents and community.
AMS Family Nights/Diversity and Inclusion Events
Coordinate school wide event to welcome families to the AMS campus and celebrate the diversity of our student population! Fall pto open house, Winter-Thanksgiving family meal with students, Late Winter-Spring event. Led by chairperson.
Landscaping Committee
Get out your gardening gloves! Enjoy a good dose of playing in the dirt with a committee of volunteers who participate in various projects throughout the year to improve the appearance of our campus. Led by chairperson.
School Directory
Collect contact information and create a database of students and parents in the AMS family. Publish a school directory to be used by PTO board members to contact parents for PTO sponsored activities.
